An exciting position has become available to become an integral part of our clients’ dairy operations looking after their dairy herd & team. The farm is in Co.Antrim Northern Ireland, located just 25min drive from Belfast city. You will be working on a modern dairy unit that consists of 400-500 head of cattle.
Main duties:
- Milking & Herding
- Calf Rearing & Calving
- Vaccinations
- Mastitis Control
- Feeding livestock with modern telehandler
- Light field machinery work during spring and summer months
- Cow Care – Infections, Treatments
- Lameness Treatments/ Foot bathing
- Bedding & Cleaning cow & calf sheds
- Fencing & General farm maintenance
- Hedge cutting, strimming & spraying
- Experience in AI
Required Skills
- Maintenance: 3 to 4 years
- Artificial Insemination: 1 to 2 years
- Milking Machines: 3 to 4 years
- Dairy Farming: 3 to 4 years
- Milking: 3 to 4 years
- Calving: 3 to 4 years
- Tractor: 3 to 4 years
- Foot Trimming: 3 to 4 years
- Farm Labour Experience: 3 to 4 years
Candidate Requirements
- Experience in Artificial Insemination
- Good communication skills
- Have experience in team management
- Competent in farm management software
- A confident team player and leader
- Extensive dairy experience – Minimum 4 years
- X2 References from a Dairy Farmer
- Valid Passport
- Driver’s License
