The iconic Fort Road Hotel in Margate has been lovingly restored by the owners of Frieze and will be reopening in August this year. Our menus will be inspired by the great female chefs and cookery writers of the past, such as Jane Grigson and Elizabeth David, and we’ll be working with some wonderful local suppliers and producers to showcase the best of what Kent has to offer. Simplicity, seasonality and locality will be at the heart of everything we do. Throughout the year, the kitchen will host a series of chef residencies, collaborations and workshops with local foragers and micro-producers.
We are looking for junior chefs / chef de parties with an innate curiosity and drive to learn about all aspects of cookery in a friendly, female-led kitchen. You will be working with seasoned hospitality professionals with considerable experience at some of London’s top restaurants such as The River Cafe. Offering very competitive rates of pay and on-the-job training, this would be a great opportunity for someone looking to learn more about all aspects of cooking in an open and friendly environment; or an experienced chef looking to cook beautiful food with like-minded people. This is a hands-on role within a tight team, with a focus on creating a disciplined, creative and enjoyable work environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Cooking and preparing consistent high-quality food on a daily basis as directed by the head chef & sous chef
- Ensuring the kitchen is maintained to the highest operational and food hygiene standards
- Assisting with ordering and stocktaking
