An ideal candidate for this position will be a person who speaks fluently Ukrainian and/or Russian languages in combination with English and/or Romanian. This person has strong time management and communication skills coupled together with empathetic and analytical skills. A person who can manage his/her time effectively and report on a consistent basis. A bridge builder with strong interpersonal skills.
Roles and Responsibilities:
· Liaise with local officials including police, ANITP and emergency response teams to share information regarding possible human trafficking cases.
· Develop materials related to human trafficking to share, distribute and train churches, NGOs and other refugee centers for reporting suspicious behavior or cases of human trafficking.
· Coordinate and liaise with NGOs, churches, civil society and other shelter centers to train on signs of human trafficking, how to recognize and report suspicious behavior.
· Share and train on safeguarding best practices with NGO, church, shelter and other refugee support staff.
· Liaise with and make referrals to other agencies
· Identify safe programs for refuges in Romania and abroad to ensure continuity of care
· Participate in multi-disciplinary teams and meetings
· Advocate the needs of partners and refugees to local authorities
· Keep up to date with changing legislation concerning the government response to the Ukrainian situation
· Advise on and ensure compliance with government regulation in partner shelters regarding the safety and wellbeing of the refugees
· Observe and record new and changing needs of refugees as well the situation at the border
· Strengthen local knowledge and community ties
Unique to Ukrainian/Russian speaking Protection Officers. Roles and Responsibilities
· Interview and assist refugees to ensure they have safety plans in place before travel, accepting an offer of employment and assist in vetting agencies and organizations and travel companies.
· Support refugees engage with safe and trusted employment and transport platforms in order to guide and gain information related to patterns, trends and emerging issues related to safe travel, settling and employment.
· Monitor social media and other digital platforms frequented and utilized by refugees in order to discern offers that are not valid.
